Understanding the Ratings
As you compete with other players, you will be rated against them. This
website uses a chess ratings system, modified to fit a multi-player game.
Players gain and lose rating after every game based on the outcome of the
match, the rating of their opponent, and the amount of time since their last
rating.
The higher the rating of your opponent, the more rating you will gain by
defeating them. Losing to a higher-ranked opponent causes you to lose less, as
well. A higher-ranked opponent, however, should have no problem defeating you.
As your rating becomes more established, your rating will change less after
each match. Your ratings will be affected more by playing against players who
are more established. This is measured by the Recent Activity meter in the
player list. The more lights a player has, the more established his or her
rating is.
